Today, we’re continuing with our sermon series that’s called “A Journey to Pentecost,” and it points us toward the Day of Pentecost, the day the church began. This is our third message, and it's entitled “Christ’s Great Commission.”
The Great Commission serves as the foundational mandate for all believers, transforming the historical events of the Resurrection into an active, ongoing mission fueled by divine authority rather than human capability. Rooted in the post-Easter encounters where Jesus met His disciples in their doubt and restored them after failure, this calling shifts the focus from mere conversion to intentional discipleship—a process of baptizing and teaching others to walk in the "Way."
It is a mission characterized by a rhythmic pattern of receiving grace and subsequently sharing it, compelling believers to move beyond their comfort zones with the boldness of the early Church. Ultimately, this charge is sustained by the profound promise of Christ’s enduring presence, ensuring that as followers step out to reach their neighbors and nations, they are never alone, but are empowered by the same sovereign presence that has comforted and guided God's people throughout scripture.
