Beginning our "How To Study The Bible" teaching series we’ll start with the first lesson called, "From Open Bible To Open Life." This lesson emphasizes that a mature relationship with Scripture requires integrating reading, studying, and obeying God's Word. Drawing from 2 Timothy 3:16–17, we need to consistently read through the while dedicating significant time to study and digging deeper as we go. Our lesson clarifies that while broad reading familiarizes believers with the overarching story of redemption, careful study ("orthotomeō" [Greek]—rightly handling the truth) unveils original historical and contextual meanings, protecting against misinterpretation. Ultimately, intellectual understanding alone is insufficient without action; as cautioned in James 1:22, true biblical engagement demands active obedience ("poiētēs"[Greek]) that transforms character, urging the believers in Christ to establish a weekly rhythm of reading broadly, studying deeply, and applying the Bible’s specific instructions directly to their lives.
