We’re continuing our study “How To Study The Bible,” as we learn to examine several different methods we can use, to studying God’s Word. Today, our teaching is called “Organizing Our Thoughts For Studying God’s Word.” Organizing our thoughts through a structured Bible study, a notebook is a vital tool for personal spiritual growth and retention, as handwritten note-taking encourages active reflection, deeper meditation, and long-term recall. Rather than treating a notebook as a performance or an end in itself, believers can view it as a humble servant to help process God's Word into obedient action. A transformational notebook can be organized into simple, functional sections—such as daily inductive or SOAP studies (an acronym that stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer), prayer logs, word and theme tracings, remembrance/gratitude records, and personal growth tracking—or customized using binders, dividers, and topical study resources. Ultimately, while any chosen format (paper or digital) works best when kept simple, the true impact comes from establishing a consistent study habit, regularly reviewing past notes, and allowing Jesus to apply those truths to daily life.
